The Grizzlies fire coach Mike Fratello
Someone had to be the scapegoat for the poor start to the season for the Grizzlies…and that somebody was Mike Fratello. He will be replaced by the Grizzlies director of player personnel, Tony Barone, who will be introduced later today as the interim head coach. Fratello finishes as the winningest coach in Grizzlies history with a 95-83 record. Fratello had taken the Grizzlies to the playoffs in the two seasons prior to this year. The Grizzlies played their first 22 games without their best player Pau Gasol who broke his foot in the Summer World Championships, so it’s hard to blame Fratello for the mess that the Grizzlies are currently in. But, you can’t fire all the players.
