The Memphis Grizzlies sign Darko Milicic to a three year contract

The Grizzlies have filled a need as they wanted to bring in a big body to help Pau Gasol inside. It cost the Grizzlies $21 million bucks over the next three seasons to get Milicic to sign the dotted line. Milicic is 7’0″, 275 pounds so he will likely give the Grizzlies the presence in the paint that they are looking for. Milicic played in 80 games (16 starts) last season for the Magic and he averaged 23.9 minutes, 8.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.8 blocks per game. Milicic shot only 44.4% from the floor and 61% from the free throw line. The Grizzlies are hoping he can improve his shooting this season.

Milicic never got much of a chance to show what he could do in Detroit but he played pretty well the last two seasons in Orlando. Milicic has played in 206 games (19 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 15.0 minutes, 5.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.2 blocked shots per game. Look for him to improve his numbers across the board with the minutes he will get from the Grizzlies.

    Hello Grizzlies,

I just wanted to contact you and express my displeasure about otherwise a highly respectable team. As you can probably assume, it is related to the graphical profanities made by your newly signed player Darko Milicic. I can understand (believe me I wish I could not) what Darko said in his native tongue and I can only say that I will never never have the slightest respect for the “man”. Unfortunately, this negative effect will trickle down to his teammates and any team that he plays for. I just know that I will never be able to root for the team that employs a “man” that sent such a strong “message” to the wives and daughters of the three referees. Consequently, you have lost a fan for good and I hope you know who you are dealing with and that he does not show his real face to the NBA fans.

    Thank you for your time.

    Mike Saracevic

Mr. Saracevic..I’m not going to defend Milicic. It’s low class to insult wives and children of referees. If he did it in his native tongue so that the refs didn’t know what he is saying then he is a real coward. No excuse for that kind of behavior.
