The Memphis Grizzlies are pleased with the play of their rookies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Rookie Reports,Uncategorized by alleyoop on Monday 31 December 2007 at 1:03 am

The Grizzlies have to be pleased with the play of guards Juan Carlos Navarro and Mike Conley Jr. so far this season. Conley was the first round pick of the Grizzlies but he hasn’t played much due to injury. He has played in 5 games this season and he is averaging 14.4 minutes, 5.6 points, 1.0 rebound and 4.2 assists per game. He also has shot well as he is hitting 47.4% of his shots from the floor and 81.8% from the free throw line. Juan Carlos Navarro is soaking up a lot of the playing time that Mike Conley Jr. would have been getting and he is running with it. Navarro has played in 28 games so far this season and he is averaging 23.6 minutes, 10.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.

Darko Milicic is stinking it up for the Memphis Grizzlies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Wednesday 12 December 2007 at 3:46 am

The Grizzlies spent a lot of money on Darko Milicic in the off-season with the idea of starting him at power forward but he has been a disappointment. In 4 games in December, Milicic is averaging 27.5 minutes, 2.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. He also is shooting a horrible 21.7% from the floor this month. The Grizzlies are stuck with Milicic so they hope he starts playing better soon.

Rudy Gay is averaging 42.4 minutes, 23.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. He also is shooting well in December as he’s hitting 52.8% from the floor. Pau Gasol has been really tough also. He has played in 5 games and he is averaging 17.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. The Grizzlies will start winning more games as long as their “Big Three” keep playing like they are right now.

The Memphis Grizzlies are in last place in the Southwest Division with a 6-14 record which has them 11 games behind the Spurs. They are still a fun team to watch because they have a high flying offense that is averaging 103.2 points per game. However, they give them up faster than they score them as they are allowing 105.2 points per game this season.

Casey Jacobsen needs to find his shooting eye for the Memphis Grizzlies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Need to step up by alleyoop on Thursday 6 December 2007 at 1:53 pm

The Grizzlies signed Jacobsen in the off-season because of his shooting prowess which is the only real skill he brings to the table and he’s been really off. Jacobsen is only shooting 36.4% from the floor and that just won’t get the job done. In his first 16 games of the season Jacobsen is averaging 14.0 minutes, 3.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. If his shooting doesn’t improve soon he will get nailed to the end of the bench for the Grizzlies.
