The Grizzlies have signed 7’2″, 254 pound Iranian center Hamed Haddadi. Haddadi was dominating in the Olympics as he averaged 16.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.6 blocked shots per game. The Grizzlies will likely take it slow with Haddadi but he clearly has the talent to succeed down the road in the NBA. This was a good move for the Grizzlies as quality big men are hard to find.

The Memphis Grizzlies renounce rights to two players

The Grizzlies have renounced the rights to Casey Jacobsen and Andre Brown which will save them some money against the salary cap. 27-year old shooting guard Casey Jacobsen didn’t have his best season last year for the Grizzlies. He played in 53 games (0 starts) last season and he averaged 10.3 minutes, 2.0 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. His best asset was usually his outside shot but he only shot 33.9% from the floor last year which makes him very expendable. 27-year old forward Andre Brown played in 33 games (1 start) last season for the Grizzlies and he averaged 8.7 minutes, 3.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. The Grizzlies won’t miss either of these players at all this season.
