The Grizzlies will be going with 21-year old Mike Conley as the starter when the season starts but Allen Iverson will be pushing him for the job all year long. Mike Conley played in all 82 games for the Grizzlies last season and he averaged 30.6 minutes, 10.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.1 steals per game. With Conley being more of a shoot first point guard he will likely have a hard time holding Allen Iverson off the whole year. 34-year old Allen Iverson played in 57 games for the Pistons and Nuggets last season and he averaged 36.7 minutes, 17.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Iverson has played point guard in the past but he definately is a shoot first player so it’s hard to say if his style will fit in with the Grizzlies. He should also get a lot of playing time at off guard backing up O.J. Mayo. 23-year old Marcus Williams was a first round pick that has fizzled out so far in his career. He played in 9 games with the Warriors last year and he averaged 6.0 minutes, 1.3 points, 0.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Williams could surprise this season for the Grizzlies but he likely won’t get a lot of playing time unless the team suffers a lot of injures.
