The Grizzlies shot 50% from the floor last night and they outrebounded the Wizards 44-35 which helped them get a rather easy home win.  Zach Randolph led the way for the Grizzlies last night with 24 points, 20 rebounds and 3 assists.  Darrell Arthur was very solid off the bench with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot on 9 of 11 shooting from the floor in 27 minutes.  Mike Conley (15 points), Tony Allen (15 points), Marc Gasol (14 points) and Sam Young (10 points) also pitched in for the Grizzlies last night.  The Grizzlies are now 24-24 on the year.

The Memphis Grizzlies need more out of Sam Young

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Saturday 29 January 2011 at 3:43 pm

With O.J. Mayo to miss the next 10 games and Tony Allen still a tad gimpy, the Grizzlies need 25-year old SG/SF Sam Young to step up.  In his last five games, Young is averaging 20.2 minutes, 6.0 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.  That just isn’t going to get the job done.  The Grizzlies need more out of Young.  Young has played in 43 games (11 starts) so far this year for the Grizzlies and he is averaging 13.5 minutes, 4.7 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.  His play is regressing after he turned in a solid rookie year last season.

The Grizzlies outscored the Sixers 42-21 in the 4th quarter last night to surge to an amazing victory.  Zach Randolph led the way for the Grizzlies last night with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.  Rudy Gay filled up the stat sheet with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.  Mike Conley (13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal), Marc Gasol (12 points) and Sam Young (12 points) also pitched in for the Grizzlies.  The Grizzlies are now 23-24 on the year.

Zach Randolph has been a beast this month for the Memphis Grizzlies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Friday 28 January 2011 at 1:49 pm

29-year old power forward Zach Randolph has been outstanding in January for the Memphis Grizzlies.  He has played in 14 games so far this month and he is averaging 37.5 minutes, 23.1 points, 14.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.  Randolph has now played in 42 games (41 starts) so far this year and he is averaging 36.7 minutes, 20.0 points, 13.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists  per game.  Whispers are starting to swirl around Memphis that Zach Randolph has his eyes on playing in a big market in the near future.  The Grizzlies might look to trade Randolph next month but count me in as a person saying that would be a big mistake.  I think the Grizzlies have a legit shot at making the playoffs with the team they currently have.  If anything, the Grizzlies should be looking to add instead of subtract.

The NBA suspends O.J. Mayo of the Memphis Grizzlies for 10 games

Blogged under Big Grizzlies News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 28 January 2011 at 1:44 pm

The NBA has suspended 23-year old shooting guard O.J. Mayo for the next 10 games due to violating the league’s anti-drug policy.  Mayo says that an over the counter supplement led to his failed test.  It was allegedly a muscle builder.  Mayo has played in 45 games (15 starts) for the Grizzlies so far this year and he is averaging 28.8 minutes, 12.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  This is a big loss for the Grizzlies as Mayo was providing a spark off the bench offensively this year.  But, he will likely get further into Lionel Hollins’ Dog House because of this.
