Tony Allen is off to a slow start offensively for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2012-13

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Tuesday 27 November 2012 at 11:03 pm

30-year old shooting guard Tony Allen is off to a slow start offensively for the Grizzlies.  He has played in 12 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies so far this year and he is averaging 24.1 minutes, 7.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game.  But, he is only shooting 36.8% from the floor so far this year, and that just isn’t getting the job done.  That being said, Allen’s game is playing defense and I don’t see him losing minutes if he continues to struggle with his shot.  I just see him shooting less if he doesn’t straighten things out offensively.

Rudy Gay is really playing well for the Memphis Grizzlies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by admin on Wednesday 21 November 2012 at 9:33 pm

26-year old small forward Rudy Gay is off to a very good start for the Grizzlies in 2012-13.  Gay has played in 10 games (all starts) for the Grizzlies so far this year and he is averaging 35.3 minutes, 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game.  Gay is the best offensive player on the Grizzlies, but he’s not selfish with the ball like other stars in the NBA.  That is a good thing as the Grizzlies are an outstanding basketball team and it’s because they play so well together.

Tony Wroten is heading to the D-League for the Memphis Grizzlies

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Reports by admin on Wednesday 21 November 2012 at 9:30 pm

The Grizzlies have sent 19-year old rookie point guard Tony Wroten to the D-League, where he can get some P.T.  He has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Grizzlies so far this year and he is averaging 2.7 minutes, 0.3 rebounds and 0.3 steals per game.  It makes no sense at all to keep Wroten on the roster right now as he is buried on the depth chart and would only get to play in garbage time, so I agree with this move by the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies only shot 38.8% from the floor but they also held the Bobcats to 37.6% shooting from the floor, which helped them prevail despite not playing anywhere near their best basketball.  Mike Conley (20 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals) and Zach Randolph (18 points, 12 rebounds and 1 blocked shot) led the way for the Grizzlies last night.  Rudy Gay (16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 1 blocked shot), Marc Gasol (12 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocked shots) and Tony Allen (12 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals) also pitched in for the Grizzlies last night.  The Grizzlies are now 8-1 on the year.
