The Memphis Grizzlies picked Wang Zhelin in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft

Blogged under Big Grizzlies News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by joelapinski on Sunday 26 June 2016 at 2:55 pm

The Memphis Grizzlies selected center Wang Zhelin out of China with the #57 overall pick (2nd round) of the 2016 NBA Draft.  Zhelin is 22 years old and he is 7’0″, 243 pounds.  Zhelin played in 8 games (6 starts) in China last year and he averaged 23.7 minutes, 11.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.  He has now played in 111 games (104 starts) in his four years in China and he is averaging 37.0 minutes, 20.8 points, 11.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocked shots per game.  If you are going to pick a draft and stash prospect, why not one that is over 7 feet tall?  I like this pick for the Grizzlies, as they are taking a flier on a guy with a huge upside!
